We are pleased to announce the appointment of Lindsay Hamilton as our new Goalkeeping Coach.
Lindsay started his playing career at Stenhousemuir in 1982 before going to make over 100 appearances for the Warrior’s. He moved onto Rangers in 1987 before spells at East Stirlingshire, Stirling Albion, Clydebank and Leeds United in the late 80’s. He joined Premier Division side St. Johnstone in 1990 and spent the next couple of years as their number 1 before moving onto Dunfermline in 1992.
After a short spell in Northern Ireland with Portdown, Lindsay signed on at Bayview in 1995. He made 76 appearances over 2 season at East Fife and was part of the team that won promotion to the First Division under Steve Archibald in 1995-96, during which he had 17 shut-outs.
Lindsay left Bayview in 1997 for Queen’s Park before ending his playing career back at Stenhousemuir, retiring at the end of the 1999/2000 season.
Lindsay joins the club from Albion Rovers where he worked with current Manager Darren Young and has previous coaching experience with Airdrie as well as the Scotland Under 17’s Women’s National Team as well as the Under 16s and Under 14s girl’s sides.
Lindsay will be working closely with Darren and Tony as they build a squad for the coming season. Welcome back to Bayview Lindsay!
We can confirm that Goalkeeping Coach Alex Connon has left the East Fife coaching team. Alex joined East Fife in 2014 after previous coaching spells at Berwick Rangers, Stenhouesmuir and East Stirlingshire.
Alex has played a key role in East Fife’s success over the last few years with our goalkeepers able to draw on his wealth of knowledge and experience to aid their development. The club would like to thank Alex for all of his hard-work over the last four years and wish him all the best for the future.
The following appeared in Issue 21. of The Bayview for our last game of the season against Stranraer on the 28th of April.
Welcome to Bayview for the last game of the 2017/18 League One campaign. Thank you to all our fans for the support that you have given us throughout the season. I know it’s been disappointing for us not to be in the play-offs but we still managed to be safe in mid-table despite our horrendous injuries situation. We competed well against the middle six but our results against the bottom sides were very poor.
The Manager (Darren Young) is well aware of this and I’m sure he will work to rectify this for next season. Preparations have already been made for preseason and Darren is activity pursuing signing targets for a concentrated campaign. Our goal next season is, as always, to try and win the league. I, and the board, will continue to give all that we can to achieve this. I must give a big thank you to all my Directors for the hard work, time and dedication they give to the club. Of course this is matched by the staff and the volunteers in and around the club. I will congratulate the Player of the Year winners in advance as I’m sure that they deserved it.
We have had our first season using the all synthetic pitch and all the reports back say that it’s a good surface to play on. Again thanks to the hard work of Fifers for the Community committee on and off the pitch which is enabling the community to have all year round access to a good playing surface. Our hope is that this will bring the community closer to East Fife. On the commercial front a huge thanks to all who sponsor the club. This is invaluable to the club’s wellbeing and the day to day running of the club.
On the 2nd June this year we are hosting a celebration dinner to commemorate winning the Scottish Cup in 1938, the League Cup in 1948 and 2008 Third Division championship. All three cups should be in attendance along with the matchball from the Scottish Cup win. Relations of the 1938 and 1948 players will be in attendance along with players from the 2008 team. We would encourage fans not to miss this evening and to support the club on this occasion.
We have recently opened our restaurant for lunches and Sunday high teas. All money made from this goes to the club so every time you use this facility it is helping the club so come along and enjoy your clubs facilities. Some of you will have noticed that we have recently received planning permission from Fife Council for the installation of a lift. This is something that has been sadly lacking and will give access to the upstairs lounge for ALL supporters & which will hopefully encourage more use of the stadium outwith match days.
All that is left to say is please keep on supporting the team as without you there would not be a team. Have a very good summer and hope to see you all next season.
