How long have you been an East Fife supporter and what was your first game?
My father’s uncle, Dave McLean, was Manager of East Fife from 1931 to 1941, and my father took me to my first match at Bayview, at the age of 5, in 1948 against Third Lanark. In those days, it took nearly 3 hours, with 4 bus changes, to get from my home in Tayport to Leven, then we walked to Methil.
In the early 1950s, my father co-founded the Tayport branch of the East Fife Supporters Club, and we filled at least one bus load for every home game, with 2 bus loads in the halcyon days on the fifties against Rangers or Celtic.
Most memorable moment following East Fife?
I wasn’t allowed to go to Hampden for the League Cup final in 1953 but listened to the game live on the radio. What a day, what a win!
Least favourite moment following East Fife?
Any match in which East Fife are beaten.
Favourite player (present)?
I like to watch Aaron Dunsmore with the ball and admire the work ethic of Kyle Wilkie in midfield.
Favourite player (all-time)?
For his consistent performances over many years, Sammy Stewart, but for entertainment Charlie (Legs) Fleming.
Best East Fife goal?
The first, and all, of Dom Emery’s penalty kicks.
Favourite goal celebration?
All of them!

Favourite Scotland game?
The 1976, 2-1 win over England at Hampden Park. I was sitting in the stand and had a great view of Kenny Dalgleish’s goal though the legs of Ray Clemance, the England goalkeeper, for the winning goal.
Favourite Scotland player (all-time)?
John Greig of Rangers and Scotland.
When do you think Scotland will next qualify for a major tournament?
One has to hope it will be soon.
General
Ronaldo or Messi?
Favourite away ground?
Gayfield Park, Arbroath – we always seem to get a good result there.
If you could change one football rule what would it be?
Do away with offside. Also, I would like to see the standard of refereeing and linemen improved in the lower leagues.
