We’re delighted to announce the Liam Newton and Aaron Steele have both signed one-year extensions to their current contracts, keeping them both at Bayview until the summer of 2023.
19-year-old Liam was promoted to the first team July 2020 after impressing for the Under 20s side the season before. He made his debut against Cowdenbeath in the Betfred Cup in October before scoring his first goal against Raith Rovers in the same competition a few days later. The midfielder has 29 first team appearance to his name so far.
Defender Aaron Steele joined the club on a permanent deal in the summer after impressing while on loan from St. Johnstone towards the end of last season. The 19-year-old made his East Fife debut against Airdrieonians in April this year and, to date, has turned out for the club on 14 occasions, scoring twice.
Darren Young: “It’s great to have been able to tie both Aaron and Liam down to longer deals. Both guys continue to grow in confidence every week and you can see that in their performances on the park. They’re both still young so I’m sure they’ll continue to develop, and it will be great for the fans to see how they progress over the next couple of years”.
