We’re delighted to announce the Liam Newton and Aaron Steele have both signed one-year extensions to their current contracts, keeping them both at Bayview until the summer of 2023.
19-year-old Liam was promoted to the first team July 2020 after impressing for the Under 20s side the season before. He made his debut against Cowdenbeath in the Betfred Cup in October before scoring his first goal against Raith Rovers in the same competition a few days later. The midfielder has 29 first team appearance to his name so far.
Defender Aaron Steele joined the club on a permanent deal in the summer after impressing while on loan from St. Johnstone towards the end of last season. The 19-year-old made his East Fife debut against Airdrieonians in April this year and, to date, has turned out for the club on 14 occasions, scoring twice.
Darren Young: “It’s great to have been able to tie both Aaron and Liam down to longer deals. Both guys continue to grow in confidence every week and you can see that in their performances on the park. They’re both still young so I’m sure they’ll continue to develop, and it will be great for the fans to see how they progress over the next couple of years”.

As the Under 20s season kicked off, we felt that some of our players would benefit from loan moves in competitive senior leagues rather than playing against players their own age. This, in turn, opened up places in the 20s group for younger players. Our 20s team is mainly made up of players born in 2003, 2004 and 2005 playing against 2001 and 2002s and they are being challenged and stretched each game. Four of our Under 20s side are currently on loan at senior clubs:
Jack Healy – East Stirlingshire
Jack joined the Shire in August and quickly had to learn the demands of a first team environment making a few appearances initially from the bench. He has now established himself as a starting player and is impacting games with goals and assists. Del Ure and his staff have been tremendous with Jack and have been giving constant feedback to the club. Jack was included in the Lowland League Catchup’s Team of the Month for September.
Next up for East Stirlingshire is a 2nd round Scottish Cup tie against Bonnyrigg Rose on Saturday.
Cammy Dow – Berwick Rangers
Cammy was another needing first team football and with him moving to Edinburgh, the chance to join Berwick Rangers presented itself. Cammy has managed to force his way into Stuart Malcolm’s starting line-up and recently scored his first goal as well as chipping in with some assists.
Next up for Berwick Rangers is a 2nd round Scottish Cup tie against Stirling Albion on Saturday.
Jamie Allan – Linlithgow Rose
Jamie initially joined Bo’ness United in September but unlike the others his spell wasn’t as successful as we had hoped. Despite good showings against the likes of East Kilbride we recalled him last month. Jamie applied himself constantly during his spell and he has been very unlucky not to get the game time his work ethic deserved. Jamie has now joined Linlithgow Rose and we hope to see him continue his progression.
Next up for Linlithgow Rose is an East of Scotland Qualifying Cup 2nd round match against Dalkeith Thistle on Saturday.
Kieran Lindsay – St Andrews
Kieran has been doing very well for St Andrews United having helped them out for a few weeks he is now on loan until January. The opportunity to play regular football in a senior league was one he couldn’t turn down and he has been flourishing under their new management team. Kieran is only 17 and one we hope will come back from the loan with a better understanding of the men’s game.
Next up for St. Andrew’s United is a King Cup 1st round tie against Ormiston on Saturday
