We’re delighted to announce the appointment of Stevie Frail as our new first team Assistant Manager.
As a player, Stevie started his career at Dundee before spells at Hearts, Tranmere Rovers and St. Johnstone before finishing up his playing career as player-coach at Greenock Morton. He then took on the position as Assistant Manager to John McCormack at Morton in 2002 before joining the coaching team at Hearts. He was promoted to Craig Levein’s assistant in 2006 and then caretaker manager for the 2007/08 season.
After leaving Hearts, Stevie was appointed coach at Celtic where he spent 6 seasons working with their reserve and youth sides. After a stint working with the Scotland U16 side, and as a scout for Bolton Wanderers, Stevie was appointed full-time manager of the Northern Ireland U19 & U17 sides in August 2016 before returning to Scotland to take up the role of Assistant Manager at Dundee United at the start of last season.
Stevie Frail: “I am delighted to be joining the club and working with Darren over the coming weeks & months. When you have been in football all of your life it can be difficult to get back into the game when you leave a club but when Darren called & asked if I would be interested in assisting him, I was delighted to accept. There is an exciting season ahead and having seen the team in action against Queen's Park last week & at training this week, I know that there is real quality in squad and hopefully I can help make it even better.”
Darren Young: “Stevie is a respected coach both here in Scotland & in Ireland. I played against him so know his qualities. Stevie was at our game against Queen’s Park on Saturday to look at the squad and has been impressed with our set up and analysis facilities. I look forward to working with him and he will be a great asset to the club.”
Welcome to Bayview Stevie!
