How long have you been an East Fife supporter and what was your first game?
I must have been around 8 or 9 when I first remember my Dad talking about East Fife. I then took an interest when the squad turned up at my school around 1997/98 to take the football team’s training session. Back then I would play of them on Ultimate Manager and edit the game to make Barrie Moffat, Phil Gartshore and John Martin the best players in the world. My first game was a couple of year later, however, for a friendly where we beat someone in the English League (I think it was Plymouth). We then played another 2 games in the next couple of days and got well and truly beaten by Rochdale and Notts County.
Most memorable moment following East Fife?
There has been a few. Kenny Deuchar with that late, late goal, but probably the game against Aberdeen was the most memorable. Such a topsy turvy game with some great goals but to go up there with no expectations after a 5-0 and 6-0 the two-previous season made it all the better.
Least favourite moment following East Fife?
Relegation at Stenhousemuir or relegation in the play-offs against Stirling Albion. Both took a lot of getting over.
Favourite player (present)?
Kevin Smith. Amazing on a bad day, unplayable on a good day!
Favourite player (all time)?
Between two. Johnny Smart and Paul McManus. Both were East Fife through and through, always a special place for guys who love the club as much as us fans do.
Best East Fife goal you’ve seen?
Matthew Park v Aberdeen. Paul McManus scored an amazing solo goal in the cup (can’t remember who against) or Stevie Campbell when he lobbed the goalie from the half-way line.
Favourite Goal Celebration?
Johnny Smart and his roly-poly
Pick your all-time East Fife 11 (players you’ve seen)
GK: Scott Fox
Defenders: Gary Naysmith, Steven Tweed, Jonathan Smart, Scott Mercer
Midfielders: Kevin Smith, Stevie Campbell, Div Muir
Strikers: Nathan Austin, Paul McManus, Kenny Deuchar
Favourite Scotland game?
France away with that McFadden screamer!
Favourite Scotland player (all-time)?
Scott Brown is so underrated for the level of performance he puts in.
When do you think Scotland will next qualify for a major tournament?
Next campaign is our time! We were so close this year and if Strachan hadn’t been so stubborn with his selections and included guys like Griffiths at the start we may have picked up more points and even at the end with McGregor who’s been playing brilliant for Celtic but can’t make it into the Scotland squad. Don’t think it was right to sack him though as apart from Moyes or Lambert, we don’t have much better.
Ronaldo or Messi?
Ronaldo (Neymar is now better than both!)
Favourite away ground?
Tynecastle is probably the best away ground I’ve been to. Ibrox was nice but was a cauldron of hate the times I’ve been so had a sour taste from that.
If you could change one football rule, what would it be?
That if someone scores they should have free reign to celebrate how they want, unless it’s inciting opposition fans. They can take their tops off, jump into fans, whatever they like and not have to receive a yellow card for it.
